We spend a lifetime denying we will get old or die, and now it stairs us in the face daily. We see our lifelong friends become infirmed and die off. We no longer have the structure of 40 or more hours per week spent in the pursuit of earning our living. We are no longer noticed by the opposite sex. When in conversation with a group of younger women, it is as if we are ghosts and don't even exist. Our conversations are not even engaged in their general conversations.

Yeah, old age sucks. Puberty sucked more though. So did 18 and leaving home, childbirth, raising teenagers, loving the species known as males..... You just have to work harder as an old woman, that's all. Become more involved. Enjoy time to learn new things and pursue hobbies. Exercise in a way you enjoy. I personally walk and ride my bike daily. Most days I don't feel like it. But I do it anyway. I have never at day's end said "Geez, I wish I hadn't exercised today."
